Artist Statement

It has always been my goal to work for myself. I wanted to do something that would benefit my fellow man now and after I am gone.

I was born in Box Elder County Utah. The largest part of my childhood was spent on a Cattle ranch in Grouse Creek Utah. I attended school at Bear River High and went on to finish my education at Weber State College. I had every intention of becoming an educator. I did teach for two years but found my true love was with the clay.

In 1969 I began throwing pottery full time. It has been a long road with a lot of pot holes and detours but with my families support and help I have been able to realize a dream.

While throwing pottery, I try hard to follow my belief that FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION. I enjoy making a product that is appealing to the eye and functional.

Pottery history has always fascinated me. Pottery in the early years was designed primarily for use. Replicating historically correct pottery is a very satisfying occupation. We have taken the look of the past and incorporated it with modern technology to make the most durable product available. Microwaveable, dishwasher safe, oven safe, lead free. It is very functional hard fired stoneware.

When I was a child I got in trouble for playing in the mud, now I get paid for it.
